A successful school year starts with a strong support system. This Back-to-School Month, we're highlighting Caring for Denver grantees that are working alongside families, schools, and communities to strengthen mental health, prevent substance misuse, and help every child and young person reach their full potential. 

Grantee Spotlight: Movimiento Poder 

Movimiento Poder is strengthening the mental health and well-being of Latine youth and families by creating culturally rooted spaces where healing, connection, and community can flourish. Through trusted relationships and community leadership, the organization helps reduce stigma around mental health while empowering young people and caregivers to support one another. 
 
With support from Caring for Denver, Movimiento Poder's Nuestra Alma program expands access to bilingual, culturally responsive mental health services for Latine and first-generation immigrant families in Southwest Denver. The program combines individual and family counseling, caregiver education, youth peer learning, and community healing circles that incorporate art, music, movement, and storytelling. Together, these supports strengthen family communication, build emotional resilience, and create safe spaces where youth and caregivers can navigate challenges and grow together. 

By centering culture, family, and community, Movimiento Poder is helping Denver's Latine youth and families build stronger relationships, improve mental well-being, and thrive together.
