Scientists just discovered a new shark species.
The weird part?
IT WALKS. 🦈🚶

Nope. That's not AI making up an animal. 😂
Scientists have officially described Dudgeon's walking shark, a newly identified species found in shallow waters off Papua New Guinea.
Instead of swimming everywhere, walking sharks can use their muscular pectoral and pelvic fins to essentially crawl across reefs.
And it gets stranger.
Some walking sharks can slow their heart rate and breathing enough to survive out of water for hours, helping them move through extremely shallow tidal environments.
Researchers weren't even searching for a brand-new species. They were studying other walking sharks when they noticed one with unusual white dashes and brown spots.
Genetic testing confirmed it.
Species number 10.
So apparently sharks looked at legs and said...
“We've got fins. Close enough.” 😂🦈
Did you know sharks could WALK?
