Lakes are an important water resource, supporting all life on Earth. 

For photographer Yichi Zhang, Lake Dian in China, for instance, is the “very lifeblood” of its inhabitants’ existence. 

This #WorldLakeDay, here are a few photographs of lakes from around the world, as a reminder of their importance for ecosystems and societies.
