Ohio State enters the 2026 season as the consensus preseason No. 1 team and national championship favorite under head coach Ryan Day, buoyed by the return of Heisman Trophy finalist quarterback Julian Sayin—who led the FBS in completion percentage last year—and unanimous All-American wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. 

Despite significant roster turnover after 11 players were drafted and others entered the portal, the Buckeyes reloaded with talent and face one of their most challenging schedules in recent years, including a road rematch at Texas, trips to Indiana and USC, and home games against Oregon and Michigan.
