have you heard rihanna's cover of tame impala's 'same ol' mistakes'?

tame impala originally released the song 'new person, same old mistakes' off of his album 'currents' in 2015, and rihanna covered the song shortly after on her project 'anti' in 2016

for so many of us, 'currents' was one of the most formative albums in all of music — with rihanna clearly included in that group too

the best part about rihanna's cover though is how faithful it is to the original while still adding something entirely new

nailing a cover of a song by another artist can be one of the hardest things to do, mainly because the original tends to already be great in its own right

rihanna took the approach of making her version with almost exactly the same vocal inflections and melodies, which even goes as far as having tame impala's harmonies still in the background

despite this being out in the world for over a decade now, i somehow just discovered this and have had it on repeat ever since... so you know i simply had to share it with you or remind you of it too
