The floods in Nepal are devastating. Lives, homes, and communities are being torn apart. People have lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods. 💔⁣

It’s a human tragedy. It’s also a strong reminder that events like these are becoming more frequent and severe.⁣
 ⁣
While it’s too early to determine exactly how the tragic landslides and floods started, it’s clear that these extreme weather risks tend to increase with global heating.⁣
⁣
The immediate priority must be saving lives, finding people who remain missing and ensuring that affected communities have access to safe shelter, food, clean water, healthcare and other essential supplies.⁣
⁣
Rescue teams, local communities and authorities are working under extremely difficult conditions. With roads and bridges damaged and electricity supplies disrupted, reaching affected communities and delivering essential assistance remains a major challenge.⁣
⁣
Disasters like these are tragic reminders that we need action: in addition to emergency relief, we need funding for community-led adaptation, resilience, and safer renewable energy. Let’s make the biggest and wealthiest polluters pay, whose core business is fuelling the climate crisis 😡⁣
