If you’re planning a road trip through Cape Breton, save this itinerary! From the iconic Cabot Trail to beautiful beaches, Scottish heritage, and coastal hikes, this part of Nova Scotia is pure magic. ✨

DAY 1 - Halifax → Mabou → Inverness
🚗 Drive from Halifax to Mabou - about 4 hours
🥃 Visit Glenora Inn & Distillery for a whisky tasting and a taste of Cape Breton’s Scottish heritage
🎶 Enjoy local food, music & culture at The Red Shoe Pub
🏖️ Stop at West Mabou Beach Provincial Park for a beach walk or swim
🌙 Drive to Inverness and stay overnight

DAY 2 - Inverness → Chéticamp
🏖️ Start your day at Inverness Beach for a swim, stroll, or relaxing morning
⛳ Stop by Cabot Links for incredible ocean views
🥾 Head to Skyline Trail for a sunset hike.. one of the most iconic views along the Cabot Trail
🌙 Stay overnight in Chéticamp

DAY 3 - Cabot Trail → Ingonish
🚗 Check out and begin your drive along the Cabot Trail , don’t rush this part!
⛰️ Allow plenty of time for scenic viewpoints and photo stops
🍽️ Stop in Neil’s Harbour for a meal
🌊 Continue toward Ingonish and spend the night there

DAY 4 - Ingonish → Halifax
🏖️ Explore Ingonish Beach & Ingonish Harbour
🐋 Depending on the season, you may also spot whales or join a whale-watching experience
🚗 Drive back to Halifax

📍 Travel tip: Cape Breton Highlands National Park is home to some of the most spectacular scenery on the Cabot Trail, so give yourself extra time for viewpoints, short hikes, and spontaneous stops.

🦞 And don’t leave without trying some local favourites — lobster, fish & chips, oysters, seafood chowder and Scottish shortbread!
