The long nights, 
the constant guessing, 
the feeling of never quite catching your breath

But one day, 
sooner than it feels right now, 
they’ll tell you what they need 
they’ll grab their own snack
they’ll get their own water 
they’ll run toward the swings and pump their little legs all on their own

It won’t always feel this heavy.
