#TSRUpdatez: Sonya Massey’s family is speaking out after the death of #SeanGrayson, the former Illinois sheriff’s deputy who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing Sonya. According to TMZ_tv, Sonya’s cousin, #SontaeMassey, says the family was devastated and frustrated after learning about Grayson’s death online rather than being notified directly.

As we previously reported, Grayson, who was just six months into his sentence, died Sunday while battling advanced colon cancer, his attorney, Daniel Fult, confirmed. Sontae says he gathered Sonya’s mother, son, and daughter to break the news, but they initially didn’t believe him. “They want to see his body. None of us are okay,” Sontae told TMZ. _________________________
The family says they’ve also struggled to get information since the trial. Sontae believes Grayson dying just months into his 20-year sentence does not represent the justice they were hoping for. “This is not what justice looks like to us,” he said, adding, “I don’t think any Black American can achieve true justice. I think we got as good as we could get.”
