YAYOI KUSAMA, 1929–2026

Yayoi Kusama, the pioneering Japanese artist whose polka dots, Infinity Nets, pumpkins, and immersive installations became some of the most recognizable images in contemporary art, has died at the age of 97.

Across more than seven decades, Kusama transformed repetition and infinity into a visual language entirely her own, leaving an extraordinary mark on contemporary art and generations of artists who followed.

An extraordinary life devoted to art. Her universe will continue infinitely.
