A year ago, I got the opportunity to honor Althea Gibson in a way that artists only date dream of. I created artwork to celebrate 75 years of her breaking by the color barrier and that artwork is cemented in history at the usopen . Yesterday would have been Althea’s 99th birthday. If you don’t know of her legacy, you should. Her legacy makes attending the opens that much more special 💙 I’m still not over it #usopen #altheagibson #blackhistory
