Newcastle Fans Were HEARTBROKEN in the 99th Minute 😳

One of the craziest endings you’ll see in the Premier League.

I traveled to Newcastle upon Tyne to experience Newcastle United vs Liverpool at the legendary St James’ Park — and this one delivered.

Before the match, I hit the streets around the stadium and talked with Newcastle and Liverpool supporters about their expectations for the new Premier League season, their predictions for the match, and how confident they were heading into opening day.

Then it was time to experience St James’ Park for myself.

Newcastle gave their home supporters the perfect start when Anthony Elanga scored just five minutes into the match. Liverpool responded in the second half through Cody Gakpo, but Newcastle answered almost immediately when substitute Joe Willock put the Magpies back in front.

For most of the second half, it looked like Newcastle were going to start the season with a massive home victory over Liverpool.

Then came the 99th minute.

Liverpool were awarded a penalty deep into stoppage time, and Dominik Szoboszlai stepped up and buried it to make it 2-2 with virtually the final kick of the match.

After the final whistle, I went back outside St James’ Park to hear from BOTH sets of supporters after an unbelievable finish — Newcastle fans dealing with the heartbreak of losing two points at the very end and Liverpool fans reacting to an incredible escape.
