Some thyroid tablets are being recalled nationwide after Drug company Vitruvias Therapeutics Inc. found the medication could be "superpotent." This means the pills -- meant to treat hypothyroidism -- could potentially lead to hyperthyroidism if taken.

The voluntary recall applies to Lot 504950 of 30 mg Thyroid Tablets that were prescribed to patients. According to a news release by the FDA, the drug company is "proactively notifying its wholesalers by email and phone to discontinue distribution of the product."

The company said it was arranging for the recalled tablets to be destroyed, but warned patients to not stop taking the medication without speaking to their doctor.
