Grief is so funny. My dad passed away 13 years ago and this past summer when I took the kids to his favorite place and they fell in love with doing his favorite things, I cried more than I have in years. How can we be heartbroken and so happy at the same time? I loved watching them do everything he loved to do, but my ❤️ ached knowing they’ll never get to experience doing it with him. He was the best part. And 13 years later I could see him on the dock teaching them how to fish, untangling their line, and putting their bait on. He would’ve been thrilled. Feeling the loss for myself is hard enough, but feeling what my kids have lost is sometimes overwhelming. It’s one I feel every single day. #grief #youshouldbehere
