No. 16 Griffon Volleyball wrapped up opening weekend with a perfect 4-0 record after earning wins over Florida Southern and Florida Tech on Saturday at the Bahama House Classic in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Match One: MoWest 3, Florida Southern 0

The Griffons opened Saturday with a straight-set victory over Florida Southern, winning 25-16, 25-15 and 25-15.

Taylor Russell recorded her 1,000th career kill and finished with seven kills, while Tanith Roush led MoWest with nine. Mackenzie Peters added seven kills while hitting .778, and Anna Weberg led the defense with 14 digs.

Match Two: MoWest 3, Florida Tech 1

MoWest finished the weekend with a four-set victory over Florida Tech, winning 25-17, 25-20, 20-25 and 25-17.

Roush led the Griffons with 25 kills while hitting .605, while Holly Heldt added 16 kills and 11 digs. Weberg recorded a team-high 20 digs to move into second place in program history with 1,792 career digs. She now sits just three digs away from surpassing the all-time program record of 1,794.

The Griffons return home Sept. 3-5 for the Fairfield Inn Griffon Volleyball Classic at the MWSU Fieldhouse at Looney Complex. MoWest opens the tournament Thursday at 6 p.m. against Southwest Minnesota State.
