The exhibition traces Isamu Noguchi’s longstanding relationship with New York, exploring how the city’s material, cultural, social and political landscape shaped the artist's practice and way of thinking, and Noguchi, in turn, shaped New York.⁠
⁠
Presented at the Noguchi Museum (noguchimuseum ) – founded by the artist in 1985 across the street from his Long Island City studio –  the exhibition brings together over 50 works, featuring a selection of sculptures, project models, photographs and archival materials.⁠
⁠
In the artist’s own words: ‘Like a lot of New Yorkers, I was one of those bitten by some kind of an idealism … New Yorkers after all felt a special relationship to the world.’⁠
