She has absolutely no idea we’re doing this. ❤️

We met Esmeralda while putting together a new series about local businesses around Arizona.

After six years working at Maskadores Taco Shop, she recently became the owner and is reopening it under a new name: Baja Tacos Mami.

But the date she chose means a lot more than just a grand opening.

August 15 marks three years since Esmeralda tragically lost her youngest daughter in a road rage incident. She’s choosing that same day to begin a new chapter.

She thought we were just there to hear her story.

She doesn’t know we’re posting this. And she definitely doesn’t know we’re inviting Phoenix to show up.
