A woman pulled over to help two young children walking through 108-degree heat. Police say their father responded by punching her car.

Glendale police say Ryan and May Mullin had been walking with their 2- and 4-year-old children for about three hours after leaving a Cardinals practice. A witness reported seeing both parents stumbling, with the mother appearing to vomit and the father falling over one of the children.

When officers arrived, police say Ryan ignored commands to stop, grabbed one child by the wrist and refused to let go until an officer threatened to use force. Officers reported that both parents smelled like alcohol and had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes.

Both were booked on child-abuse charges. Ryan also received three disorderly-conduct charges. Records show both parents were later released on their own recognizance.
