Backed by a full live band, horns and background vocalists, Zay ran through 13 songs spanning more than a decade of his catalog, from “Heavenly Father” and “West Savannah” to “Wat’s Wrong,” “Headshots” and music from his new album, ‘IT’S BEEN AWFUL’ 💿

Stripped of the studio production, the performance puts a spotlight on something that’s always existed underneath his music: the blues, soul and live instrumentation that fit naturally around his laid-back delivery. NPR described the set as a chance for Zay to reflect on everything that’s happened since ‘The Sun’s Tirade’, with songs touching on family, addiction, sexuality and the vulnerability that has defined his writing ✍️
