Almost every Afro-Latin dancer friend of mine has asked me:

“Why do you love Kizomba so much? I always see you in the Kizomba room.” 😂

I connect with Kizomba music differently. The rhythm, pauses, energy and connection just feel natural to me.

But I didn’t fall in love with it overnight.

Almost a year ago, at AfroKiz in Pattaya 🇹🇭, I met @lauradpaz who has been dancing and teaching Kizomba for almost a decade.

Back then, I was still a beginner, still learner

I remember thinking, “Can I really dance with her?”

And when the moment came… I was literally shivering. 😂

You know your basics and combinations. Then you stand in front of an international artist with years of experience… and suddenly you overthink everything.

And then the music started.

Magic.

Laura made the dance feel playful, not intimidating. We teased each other, explored, went back to basics, found new movements and kept listening to each other.

That’s when I started understanding what Kizomba means to me.

It’s not about being fast.

Not about crazy moves, lifts or tricks.

Not about showing everything you know in two minutes.

It’s about connection.

Feeling your partner’s weight. Listening to the music. Exploring something new, then coming back to something simple.

This dance was around 25-30 minutes, and honestly, I lost track of time. 😂

I was leading, but what I loved most was how Laura played with my lead. Sometimes it felt like she was subtly guiding me to lead her better.

That’s the beauty of social dancing.

Both people contribute to the conversation.

Leading.
Following.
Listening.
Adapting.
Supporting.

And when that happens, you stop feeling like two people doing steps.

You feel like one dance.

Almost a year later, I can confidently walk up to an international artist and say:

“Can I dance with you.”

Kizomba stopped being just another dance for me.

It became the dance I keep coming back to.

Laura, I can’t wait to see you at @conrisensualaura 2026. 🇮🇳✨

I’d love to dance a LOT more Kizomba with you. 🖤
