An funeral procession was held on the campus of N.C. Central University on Monday in honor of North Carolina State Highway Patrol Master Trooper Steven J. Perry, who was killed in a wrong-way crash on March 1, according to ABC11. 

Perry was an NCCU alumnus, playing as a defensive lineman in 30 games for NCCU's football team from 2014 to 2017 before graduating with a degree in criminal justice in 2018. 

Members of the Durham community gathered to watch as a procession of 100 members of the Durham Police Department, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol and other state troopers moved down Lawson Street and Fayetteville Street on NCCU’s campus.

He was also a member of the Tau Psi chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
