Choices. 

There comes a certain peace once you understand your life is under your control. Yes, plans may change, injuries may occur and shots may not end on a save. But eventually, once life has shown you its cards, you get the opportunity to decide how to play yours.

The main story of your 25th birthday transforms from “the games you couldn’t play because of a broken hand” into that time your girlfriend flew across the country to surprise you, and together you coached your college team to reach their first championship game because you chose to see the bigger picture. 

Silver medals from the 2 most important tournaments in your country eventually became two trophies raised because you chose to stay loyal to the teams and the people who gave you an opportunity since day one.

And what could’ve been remembered as failed tryouts turned into the beginning of an amazing adventure stepping foot in two new countries, building the blocks of your future and becoming a part of an amazing familia that WILL shock the world.

Choices make us who we are if we embrace them and make them while listening to our hearts. Some of them might be scary, like quitting your job or trying to save a ball with your other hand, but as long as they continue to bring you peace of mind, you’ll know they are the right ones. 

And that’s a feeling that stays for a lifetime… or at least it has been that way for me for 5 years since #PlayLaxDay 2021, when I made one of my biggest and best life choices ever… to be a lacrosse player in Mexico.
