Cam Newton at his peak was one of the most unfair quarterbacks football has ever seen

Defenses knew exactly what was coming and still couldn’t stop it. He could launch the ball downfield, escape pressure, run through linebackers and completely take over games with his legs. There simply wasn’t another quarterback built like him.

Then came 2015. NFL MVP. 15-1 record. 45 total touchdowns. Super Bowl appearance.

And the numbers still don’t fully explain what watching prime Cam felt like. Every goal-line snap felt automatic. Every broken play could turn into 30 yards. Every time Carolina needed somebody to make something happen, No. 1 could put the entire offense on his back.

People can debate where he ranks all-time, but his peak deserves way more respect than it gets. There was a stretch where Cam wasn’t just one of the best quarterbacks in football, he was one of the most dominant players in the entire league.

We’ve seen better pure passers. We’ve seen quarterbacks have longer primes. But there might never be another QB who combined that size, athleticism, arm talent and power the way Cam did. Prime Cam Newton was genuinely one of one.
