Dubai people… please tell me I’m not the only one who noticed this? 😂

You can be feeling perfectly good about yourself… and then walk into Dubai Mall on a random Tuesday morning and suddenly wonder if there was a memo about looking fabulous that you somehow missed.

The women are stunning.
The men are groomed.
The skin is skinning.
The hair is hairing.
The perfumes enter the room before the people do.

And when you live around that long enough, comparison can creep in quietly.

Should I be thinner? More polished? Better dressed? Younger-looking? Should my skin be doing whatever HER skin is doing?

But somewhere in my 40s, I changed the question.

Instead of “Why don’t I look like her?”

I started thinking:

“Damn, she looks amazing.”

I can admire another woman without making it an assessment of myself.

I can ask her lipstick shade.
Steal her styling idea.
Appreciate her confidence.
And carry on being very happily me.

Some days dressed up.
Some days gym hair.
Some days fabulous.
Some days Carrefour should be grateful I wore perfume because I look homeless 😂😂.

All still me. 😂

Maybe that’s one of the nicer things about getting older:

Someone else being beautiful stops being evidence that you aren’t.

Now I want the unfiltered Dubai version:
