Mercedes uses visible airflow streams to show exactly how air moves around the AMG GT. 🌬️🏎️

It looks like something from a science-fiction movie, but it’s actually a brilliant way to visualize one of the most important parts of a performance car: aerodynamics.

You normally can’t see air.

But with special airflow visualization techniques, engineers can make its movement visible — showing exactly how air travels over, around and underneath the car.

And for the AMG GT, airflow isn't just about making the car look aggressive.

It affects drag, cooling, stability and downforce.

As air reaches the front of the car, engineers carefully control where it goes.

Some airflow is guided around the body to reduce drag.

Some is directed toward cooling systems.

And airflow underneath the car can be shaped to help generate downforce and keep the vehicle stable at high speeds.

The AMG GT also uses active aerodynamic systems that can change depending on driving conditions, including adjustable airflow elements and an active rear spoiler.

That means the car isn't simply designed to cut through the air.

It is designed to control the air.

Engineers can use airflow visualization to spot turbulence, identify where air separates from the body, improve cooling and understand how different parts of the car affect the overall aerodynamic balance.

Every curve has a purpose.

Every opening has a reason.

Even the air underneath the car is carefully engineered.

Because when you're driving at high speed, air becomes a force that the car has to fight — or use to its advantage.
