## Caption

Interracial and same-sex marriage is legal at the federal level in the United States, and later this year Virginians will vote on whether to protect marriages between two adults “regardless of their sex, gender, or race” in the state’s constitution. 

As part of VPM News’ Amending Virginia series, State Politics Reporter Jahd Khalil spoke with Caroline Legros, civics education director at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture about why this vote is happening now.
