Xbox's CEO Asha Sharma has explained how their new disc to digital feature will work after it was formally announced at Gamescom 2026, after weeks of speculation.
 
Selected titles will soon prompt Xbox users with a digital licence which will enable them to play the physical game they bought on their Xbox accounts, without the need to keep inserting the disc every time they want to play.
 
Sharma told the BBC that she knows how much "players love physical media".
