Florida State’s defensive line didn’t have much success with getting after the quarterback in 2025.

However, the Seminoles play New Mexico State in the opener on Saturday, who were tied for 117th in the FBS in sacks allowed (2.83).

Florida State does return its leading sack artist in sophomore Mandrell Desir (6.5), but the Seminoles need to take advantage of an Aggies’ offensive line that is trying to protect quarterback transfer Trey Hedden, who isn’t much of a threat to run the football with having -176 rushing yards and being sacked 23 times last year at Furman.

This is where Florida State’s defensive line has to pin their ears back and get after Hedden in obvious passing situations.
