🐎❤️ Lewis Hamilton sold his entire car collection, but there was one machine he couldn’t stop dreaming about: the Ferrari F40.

The seven-time Formula 1 world champion has revealed his very own F40, an example he says had been sitting covered in dust inside a garage for more than 30 years.

Rather than buying a perfect collector-grade car, Hamilton sent the dormant Ferrari back home to Maranello, where factory engineers and mechanics spent weeks bringing it back to life.

Hamilton says the F40 has been his dream car since childhood, making this restoration far more personal than another addition to an expensive collection.

His obsession was already obvious when he joined Ferrari in 2025, because he specifically made sure an F40 was waiting alongside him for his first official day at Maranello.

That same year, Hamilton revealed he had sold his previous car collection and said that if he were going to own another car, it would be an F40 because he viewed it as a piece of art.

Under that massive rear wing sits Ferrari’s legendary 2.9-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 478 horsepower, enough for a claimed 201 mph top speed in 1987.

The F40 was brutally simple by modern supercar standards, combining huge turbo lag, a manual gearbox, composite construction and virtually none of the electronic assistance drivers take for granted today.

As one of the final Ferrari road cars developed during Enzo Ferrari’s lifetime, bringing a forgotten example back to Maranello after three decades feels like the perfect full-circle story for Ferrari’s most famous current driver.
