❗️Toyota’s Celica comeback is shaping up to be far more serious than a simple nostalgia play, with roughly 400 hp, AWD, and turbo-hybrid power expected for the revived coupe.

The anticipated setup centers around a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder paired with some form of electrification.

Output could land around the 400-hp mark, giving the Celica meaningful performance headroom over the current 300-hp GR Corolla.

All-wheel drive would also bring the car much closer in spirit to the legendary Celica GT-Four and All-Trac models that built their reputation through rallying.

Toyota’s new 2.0-liter turbo engine family is especially interesting because the company has already discussed outputs approaching 400 hp in road-going applications.

Unlike the GR86 and Supra, which were developed alongside Subaru and BMW respectively, the revived Celica could become a much more Toyota-centric performance project.

Current estimates put the starting price at around $45,000, placing it above the GR86 while still giving Toyota room for more expensive performance models.

The new Celica is expected to arrive in 2027 as a 2028 model, although final production specifications, pricing, and timing have not yet been officially announced.
