“He’s Kevin Durant we can’t stop him” “I promise we tried” 😮‍💨😮‍💨

2019 KD was on a completely different level. 😭🔥 Before the Achilles injury, it genuinely felt like we were watching one of the most unstoppable versions of a scorer ever.

Through his first 11 games of that postseason, KD was averaging 34.2 PPG, and during that Clippers series he looked straight-up unguardable. Patrick Beverley, Lou Williams, double teams… it didn’t matter. Then came the 50-point closeout game with 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 threes just to remind everybody there was basically no defensive answer for a 7-footer who could shoot over you, handle like a guard and score from every spot on the floor.

Even with the injury cutting his postseason short, Durant finished the 2019 playoffs at 32.3 PPG on 51% from the field, 44% from three and 90% from the line. 🤯 That efficiency while carrying that kind of scoring volume is ridiculous.

And that’s what makes 2019 KD such a huge “what if.” Golden State was chasing the three-peat, KD looked like he was playing arguably the best basketball of his career, and then everything changed in an instant.

People can debate where this version of KD ranks all they want, but offensively? 2019 Kevin Durant was basketball on easy mode. 🐐🎯

“I promise we tried.” 😭💀 That might be the best possible description of guarding him.
