Rockstar Games says it’s devastated by the Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks, but plans on stirring up its own excitement for the game through tomorrow’s “Extended Look” trailer. 

The game studio broke its silence on the controversy, which involved a hacking group called CyberLeek posting in-game footage of an apparent GTA 6 test build. 

“It would be an understatement to say that having videos of Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay leak in this way has been heartbreaking for our team, and this is obviously not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time,” the game studio said in a statement this morning. 

Surprisingly, Rockstar issued an apology to gamers and suggested the years-long wait for GTA 6 created a vacuum for the leaks to fill. “We are very sorry that everything has taken as long as it has —from getting the game finished (nearly there!) to sharing more details and official gameplay, and providing the community with everything you want to know,” the studio said. 

In the meantime, the studio intends to create hype for the game through its own trailer. “We are very excited for everyone to see the extended look tomorrow. It has taken longer than we wanted to get it ready, but as with everything we do, we know we need to exceed your expectations, and we are determined to deliver at the level you expect and deserve.”

The Extended Look will premiere on Netflix on Thursday, Aug. 27, at 3 p.m. EST, before hitting YouTube six hours later at 9 p.m. ET.
