The EU says it expects Meta to address the "addictive design" of its platforms in Europe, after an $18 billion settlement which saw the tech giant agree to limits on teen use of Facebook and Instagram in some US states.⁣

European Commission spokesman Thomas Regnier said the EU ordered Meta last month to make its platforms safer for children or face heavy fines. ⁣
