This is one of those fun, easy hacks that are impressive and delicious! The only thing you need are chopsticks on each side of the cucumber to prevent the knife from going all the way through

Japanese Spiral Cucumber Salad

Ingredients

* 4 Persian cucumbers
* 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
* 1 tablespoon soy sauce
* 1 tablespoon sesame oil
* 1–2 cloves garlic, finely minced
* 1 tablespoon chili crisp, plus more to taste
* 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds (optional)
* 1 teaspoon honey or sugar (optional, for a touch of sweetness)

Instructions

1. Make the spiral cucumbers by placing each cucumber between two chopsticks. Make evenly spaced straight cuts along one side, then turn the cucumber over and make diagonal cuts along the other side.
2. Gently pull the cucumbers apart and place them all in a bowl.
3. In a small bowl, whisk together the rice vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and chili crisp. Add honey or sugar if you like a slightly sweeter dressing.
4. Pour the dressing over the cucumbers and gently toss until they’re well coated.
5. Finish with toasted sesame seeds and an extra spoonful of chili crisp if desired.
6. Let sit for 5–10 minutes before serving so the cucumbers can absorb the dressing.

Dressing ratio: 2 parts rice vinegar : 1 part soy sauce : 1 part sesame oil, with chili crisp and garlic to taste. #cucumbersalad #chilioil #japanesefood #hack #knifeskils
