How much energy do we spend explaining away someone’s lack of effort, availability or care?

Sometimes the hardest thing to accept is that people show us what they’re willing to give us.

We can understand their circumstances. We can empathise with their story. We can give them another chance.

But at some point, we have to stop making excuses for people who consistently don’t show up for us.

Stop over-explaining their behaviour. Start paying attention to what their behaviour is telling you.
