Ruud Gullit and Paolo Maldini went from European Cup-winning teammates to direct Serie A rivals during the 1994/1995 campaign.

Gullit's Loan Spell (1993/94): 31 Serie A appearances, 15 league goals (17 in all competitions), won the 1993/94 Coppa Italia, finished 3rd in Serie A.

After winning the 1993/94 Coppa Italia with Sampdoria, Gullit returned to AC Milan in the summer of 1994, recording 8 Serie A appearances, 3 goals, 1 Supercoppa Italiana title.

 On November 8, 1994, Gullit transferred back to Sampdoria, where he went on to log 22 Serie A appearances, 9 goals, 1,939 minutes played.
