The Day Clockwork Orange Arrived: 
The Dutch took the lead early when Johnny Rep headed home a cross from Wim Suurbier in the 7th minute. From that point on, the match became a showcase of the "Clockwork Orange" system. Uruguay, featuring veterans like Mazurkiewicz and Rocha, struggled to cope with the constant positional switching of the Dutch outfield players. 
Frustration led to a physical approach from the Uruguayans. Julio Montero Castillo was sent off in the 69th minute for a second bookable offense, leaving his side even more exposed. Despite a heroic performance from Mazurkiewicz, who kept the scoreline respectable with several vital saves, the Dutch finally added a second in the 86th minute. A sweeping team move involving several players culminated in Johnny Rep side-footing his second goal of the match. 

The performance was so dominant that Dutch goalkeeper Jan Jongbloed spent much of the match acting as a "sweeper-keeper" well outside his penalty area, as Uruguay managed only a single shot.
