For EKU senior Lane, a career in federal law enforcement is more than a professional goal. It’s personal.

After losing his brother to a fentanyl overdose, Lane found an even deeper sense of purpose in pursuing a career where he can make a difference in the lives of others.

As a Homeland Security student at Eastern Kentucky University, Lane has gained hands-on experience through an internship supporting intelligence work related to drug trafficking investigations, while EKU faculty have helped prepare him for opportunities with federal agencies and organizations.

From the classroom to real-world experience, Lane’s story shows how personal purpose, mentorship and preparation can shape what comes next.
