drum notation looks a lot like sheet music, but the symbols on the staff represent different parts of the drum set instead of different notes!
here’s what to know when starting out ⬇️
⚡️bass drum sits in the bottom space of the staff
⚡️floor tom is located in the third space from the top of the staff
⚡️toms sit in the first space from the top of the staff and the line below that space
⚡️snare drum is located in the second space from the top of the staff
⚡️the ride sits at the very top line
⚡️hi-hat notation sits above the top line on the staff
⚡️crash 1 and 2 are located above the hi-hat position

💡remember: when learning a song with drum notation, break the lesson down into smaller pieces, take it slow, and practice a little bit everyday. you got this!
