China's AI power move nobody saw coming

Envision's Lei Zhang just switched on Galaxy Campus in the Gobi Desert. 

Roughly 20 football fields, up to one million AI chips, powered entirely by wind and solar. 

No grid connection at all.

This is phase one of Mission Gobi: 5 gigawatts of green AI data centers by 2030.

Meanwhile Microsoft's AI emissions jumped 25% in a year, and they just signed a 20 year natural gas deal with Chevron for Texas.
