RIP to the NFL Pro Bowl games 😔

After 75 years, the NFL Pro Bowl as we know it is officially coming to an end.

Beginning with the 2026 season, the NFL will no longer hold an AFC vs. NFC game, flag football matchup or skills competition. Instead, 88 players will be selected as Pro Bowlers and honored during an in-person celebration in Los Angeles, keeping the prestigious recognition while eliminating the actual event. 

The decision closes the book on one of the NFL’s longest-running traditions. The Pro Bowl was once a true tackle football showcase featuring the league’s biggest stars, particularly during its iconic years in Hawaii.

There will be no Pro Bowl alternates. Only the original 88 players selected by fans, coaches and players will officially earn the honor, a move designed to make being called a Pro Bowler more meaningful.

The game may be gone, but the title of NFL Pro Bowler lives on. 🏈
