Please join us in recognizing our August Employee of the Month: Deputy Marcus Johnson.

The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office proudly recognizes Deputy Johnson as the September Employee of the Month for his outstanding professionalism, dedication, and commitment to the safety and well-being of others. A member of the Sheriff’s Office since August 2008, Deputy Sheriff Johnson currently serves in Arrest Processing on A-Shift and consistently demonstrates a willingness to assist others while maintaining a calm, professional approach in every situation.

Deputy Sheriff Johnson’s professionalism and de-escalation skills were demonstrated on March 17, 2026, when he successfully calmed an agitated individual in the front lobby of Arrest Processing who had become confrontational with deputies. His ability to communicate effectively and remain composed prevented the situation from escalating. Deputy Sheriff Johnson has also demonstrated his commitment to the safety of those in custody by recognizing an unresponsive arrestee during a wellness check, administering Narcan, and helping ensure the individual received emergency medical treatment.

Deputy Sheriff Marcus Johnson exemplifies the teamwork, compassion, professionalism, and dedication expected of a Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office employee. His consistent willingness to help others and his ability to respond appropriately during critical situations make him highly deserving of this recognition. The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office is proud to recognize Deputy Sheriff Johnson as the September Employee of the Month.
