my grandma and her sister were separated for 30+ years by the war. at the war’s onset, they both went to the dock to leave but only my grandma got on the ship that day, my great aunt told my grandma that she’d be on the next ship with their brother, mom and dad. but there was no next ship. they ended up not even being able to communicate for decades until  30+ years later when they reunited in Shanghai, i’m happy that they all lived to see eachother again.
