Save and Share my recipe for Filipino Pork Sinigang. Every family has a little twist to theirs and this is ours. You can add Chinese egg plant, okra, shrimp or even not at the ginger and sugar. Here’s version that my family prefers:
Ingredients:
3 pounds of pork spare ribs
1 onion
1 ounce of ginger
2 Roma tomatoes
1 packet of Knorr tamarind powder
1/2 tbsp salt (add more if needed when tasting the soup when finished)
2 tbsps fish sauce (add more if needed when tasting the soup when it’s finished)
1 ounce rock sugar (add more if needed when tasting the soup when finished)
2 cups of green beans
2 cups of sliced daikon
1 bushel of spinach
Instructions:
In a large pot par boil ribs for 15-20 minutes. There will be a lot of impurities that float to the top. Drain water and add fresh water. Bring to a boil.
Slice onion in half and add to pot with sliced ginger. Add salt, bring heat down to low, cover with a lid and cook for 30 minutes.
Next cut tomatoes in half and add to pot. Cover with a lid and cook for another 15 minutes. Then add green beans, daikon, fish sauce, sugar and Knorr packet. Simmer for another 5 minutes and then add spinach. Taste if it needs anymore seasoning or water. Serve with rice. #sinigang #soupseason
