Congratulations to Patrick C. Murphrey ’05, recipient of the Alumni Achievement Award!
Patrick C. Murphrey has dedicated his career to public service, legal leadership, and strengthening the communities he serves. A graduate of Christopher Newport University, he earned a Master of Public Administration from Old Dominion University and a Juris Doctor from Regent University before beginning a distinguished career in municipal law.
Today, Patrick serves as Senior Assistant City Attorney for the City of Newport News, where he provides legal counsel on matters that support effective local government and public service. His commitment to leadership extends well beyond his profession through active involvement with organizations that improve the quality of life across the Virginia Peninsula.
Patrick is a Past President of both the Rotary Club of Newport News and the Newport News Bar Association. He currently serves on the boards of the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank, Habitat for Humanity Peninsula and Greater Williamsburg, the Virginia State Bar Council, and the Local Government Attorneys of Virginia. He also contributed his expertise through appointments to the Supreme Court of Virginia’s Court Improvement Program Advisory Committee and the Newport News Law Library Advisory Committee.
