🎒✨ BACK-TO-SCHOOL… WITHOUT BUYING EVERYTHING NEW! ✨🎒

I was back at @KTLA last week sharing some of my favorite budget-friendly back-to-school UPCYCLING ideas! 🙌 Because let’s be real—back-to-school shopping can get EXPENSIVE, especially when the kids suddenly want everything new. 😂

But sometimes you don’t need NEW… you just need to make the OLD feel new again! ♻️💕 Here are 5 easy ideas:

👟 1. TIE-DYE IT!
White shoes, shirts, socks… if you can’t get those stains out, don’t toss them—TIE-DYE them! We love ice tie-dye because it’s also such a fun activity to do with the kids.

👖 2. UPCYCLE OLD JEANS
Grab jeans you already own or hit the thrift store! I recently found two pairs for $10 and updated them with fabric splatter paint and fun fabric patches. Both projects were under $15 and turned out SO cute!

🎒 3. REFRESH AN OLD BACKPACK
Give last year’s backpack a deep clean, then add patches, pins or charms based on what your kid loves right now. Max was completely over his two-year-old backpack… until I added Pokémon patches and charms. Suddenly? BRAND NEW in his eyes. 😂⚡️

📓 4. MAKE A NEW NOTEBOOK FROM LEFTOVER PAPER
You know all that unused paper left in notebooks and binders at the end of the year? SAVE IT! Bind it together with rubber bands + a paper clip for an easy version, or use Mod Podge to create a more permanent binding. I even reused an old notebook cover, cut it to size and let Max personalize his “new” notebook!

📸 5. DIY FIRST-DAY PHOTO PROP
I grabbed inexpensive supplies from Dollar Tree and made the cutest Polaroid-inspired first-day-of-school photo frame! Such a fun way to commemorate the new school year without spending much at all.

♻️ The best part? These ideas are budget-friendly, personalized, on-trend AND give things you already own a second life.

Back-to-school doesn’t have to mean buying EVERYTHING new. Sometimes a little creativity is all it takes to make what’s old feel new again! ✂️🎨✨
