The Idaho GOP says it believes in freedom. But whose freedom are they protecting?

Their 2026 platform says people and legal entities should be protected when they refuse to participate in healthcare that conflicts with their moral or religious beliefs.

That language goes far beyond abortion. It would affect medications, vaccines, screenings, end-of-life care, and other medical services. In Boise, you might be able to find another provider.

In rural Idaho, where one hospital, clinic, or pharmacy serves an entire community, “go somewhere else” would mean driving hours for care. 

Your doctor’s personal beliefs should not become your medical restrictions. I respect religious freedom. I also believe patients deserve freedom.

Healthcare decisions belong to patients, families, and medical professionals based on medicine, not politicians creating protections that make needed care harder to reach.

Freedom should belong to the patient too. 💙
