Roman McConn started rescuing shelter dogs at just 4 years old after learning some never make it out alive. He and his mom co-founded Project Freedom Ride, a nonprofit that transports dogs from high-kill states like Texas and Georgia to areas with higher adoption rates. By 2023, they had helped rehome nearly 5,000 dogs.

At age 8, Roman was named ASPCA Kid of the Year and later hosted a show on the Dodo Kids Network.
