September is National Recovery Month, and we're celebrating the organizations that make recovery possible every day. Throughout the month, we'll be highlighting Caring for Denver grantees that are expanding access to care, strengthening recovery supports, and helping more Denver residents thrive. 

Grantee Spotlight: Colorado Artists in Recovery (CAiR)

Colorado Artists in Recovery (CAiR) is a peer-led recovery community organization that uses creativity, connection, and lived experience to support people on their recovery journeys. Founded by people in recovery for people in recovery, CAiR creates welcoming spaces where Denver residents can explore healing through art while building meaningful relationships and strengthening their mental well-being.

With support from Caring for Denver, CAiR is expanding its arts-based recovery supports for Denver residents, bringing free trauma-informed recovery workshops, drop-in recovery groups, and behavioral health-centered navigation to trusted community spaces across Denver. Through visual arts, music, writing, movement, and other creative outlets, participants build confidence, strengthen social connections, and develop healthy coping skills. A dedicated Peer Navigator provides warm handoffs to behavioral health, treatment, and recovery services, helping participants access additional care while remaining connected to a supportive recovery community.

By combining creativity with peer support and community connection, Colorado Artists in Recovery is helping more Denver residents strengthen their recovery, improve their mental well-being, and discover that healing is something no one must do alone.
