For nearly five decades, Generation has championed bold, exciting cinema for young audiences. As the section celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2027, the Berlinale is opening a new chapter for our pioneering programme for children, teenagers and families:

🎬 Generation Kplus and Generation 14plus will continue with twelve to fourteen international feature-length films competing for the two Crystal Bears for the Best Film.
✨ The Crystal Bears will be presented at the Berlinale’s Awards Ceremony in the Berlinale Palast for the first time.
🎞️ The new non-competitive programme strand Generation Premieres.
🤝 Expanded opportunities to connect films, audiences and the international industry.

As Festival Director Tricia Tuttle puts it: “Many of us fell in love with cinema when we were young, and we want Generation to inspire that same lifelong connection while helping exceptional films reach more audiences around the world.”
